This is not an email about the Coronavirus; it’s a message to say that we’re all heading into relatively unknown territory over the next few months. You’re not alone, and we’re going to need to have some difficult conversations.
COVID19, the seventh known strain of the flu, has rocked every business, organisation and family with access to the news. Our government has taken decisive steps to begin mitigating the impact; steps that are far ahead of some of the countries who’ve been hit fast and hard by the virus. This is enormously encouraging!
What does this mean for you and your family?
That’s not an easy question to answer; however, businesses will need to restructure the way that they operate. Family life, too, will be disrupted as social events, extra-murals, camps and schools close.
Being aware of this and talking about it with your family is the first step to preparing and planning. Self-isolation is being touted as the best first-level response from us.
It’s also suspected that fake-news and misinformation will spread even faster than the virus itself.
Don’t go to Facebook for your news, and don’t believe sites that are not accredited news outlets. These posts will fan the flames of panic and stir you to react emotionally, which is not advisable at all!
It’s also not just as easy as saying, ‘Sit back and relax, this too shall pass.’ We are all worried, so let’s talk about it together and share the best information that will help us allay our fears.
Let’s start the ball rolling… if you haven’t seen this yet – please take 15 minutes to watch it.
